Beirut and Beyond champions the rights of Palestinian refugees and supports Palestinian led organizations creating a better future for their communities.

Our work is to highlight and partner with Palestinian organizations. Beirut and Beyond educates on Palestinian refugee narrative, funds projects making a difference in their communities, and most importantly amplifies Palestinian voices.

Lebanon


Palestinian Civil Defense

In Lebanon, Palestinian Civil Defense (PCD) provides emergency resources to Palestinian refugee camps such as firefighting, search and rescue and paramedic services. They are the front line for COVID and disaster relief for Palestinian refugees. PCD is made up of Palestinian refugee volunteers. They continue to serve both Palestinian and Lebanese communities as the country of Lebanon faces war and economic collapse.

Lebanon—Palestinian Civil Defense (PCD) GOAL - $50,000

Currently

From September 2024, PCD is coordinating with Lebanese Civil Defense to respond to the bombings of the south suburbs of Beirut. Their center in Bourj Camp was severely damaged and they are displaced. But they are currently operating from another location. Please support their dedication and service to both the Lebanese and Palestinian communities during a war. We are sending emergency funds for operation costs and replacement of damaged equipment.

Ahlam Lajea

(Dreams of a refugee)

In Lebanon, Ahlam Lajea Association (ALA) is a non-governmental organization established by five young Palestinian graduates from Shatila camp in Lebanon. ALA delivers services in Palestinian refugee camps in the areas of education, protection and inclusion, governance, cultural initiatives, sports projects, Gender-Based Violence prevention, Palestinian Civil Defense, and Solid Waste Management Projects. With over 200 full-time employees, ALA supports and benefits more than 1500 annually individuals through its various programs.

Lebanon—Ahlam Lajea (ALA) GOAL - $10,000

Currently…

In September 2024, Ahlam Lajea launched a meal program for displaced families from the south. Over 250 families, both Lebanese and Palestinian, have come into Shatila and Bourj al-Barajneh camps and surrounding areas in Beirut. Ahlam Lajea used their community kitchen to provide meals that fed 1000 people in Shatila Camp, Bourj al-Barajneh Camp, Sabra and Jalool areas. This is a start, they plan to provide food, mattresses, and essential items to these families. More are expected to arrive. Please join us in supporting Palestinian refugees serving both Palestinian and Lebanese communities during a war.


Simsim Kitchen

In Lebanon, Simsim Kitchen is a cultural cooking experience. They facilitate cooking class in Lebanon and online, hosted by refugee woman to provide income. In 2022, they started collecting recipes from the different regions in Lebanon for a cookbook to highlight the diversity and resiliency of Palestinian and Syrian refugees, Lebanese citizens, and Armenian descendants.

Jordan

 

Hopes For Training, Education, and Development

In Jordan, Hopes is our partner organization that supports refugee women. They provide scholarships for higher education and mentorship programs. We successfully implemented a library for the Women’s Center in Gaza Camp in 2018 and have watched it grow to meet the needs of women in the camp. Our librarians continue to provide in person programs, including the monthly book club and seminars, reading marathons, open houses, movies while providing women with a safe place to have community.

Jordan—Hopes Library GOAL - $18,000

Currently…

We seek to provide the librarian salary and library operational costs. The library needs funds for new books, bookcases, and promotional expenses including seminars to help the library expand services to more women, men, and children in the camp. Palestinian Organizations

 

Palestinian Civil Defense


Palestinian Civil Defense
is a network of emergency services in Palestinian camps throughout Lebanon. They are the only independent stakeholder providing these emergency services in Palestinian refugee camps. They are made up of volunteers, refugees from the camps, who have been trained and certified in firefighting, first aid, and search and rescue.

Hopes For Women in Education

Hopes for Women in Education is a volunteer-run organization, which means all of the funds received go toward scholarships dedicated to disadvantaged refugee women in Jordan. Scholarships are open for all refugee women in Jordan accepted to a local university. Hopes has been operating in Jordan since 2011, has had over 20 successful women graduate with a 50% employment rate amongst them. 50% success rate is an incredible accomplishment.

Simsim Kitchen

Simsim Kitchen facilitates cooking classes in Lebanon hosted by women from impoverished areas and refugee camps. You will experience local food and culture while empowering women by helping them become independent and support their families.
