Currently there are 5.3 million Palestinian refugees registered with the UN in four countries, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and the Palestinian Territories. Palestinians have endured refugee status for 70 years, making them one of the largest and oldest refugee population in the world. Three generations of Palestinian refugees are living in permanent refugee camps across the Middle East, and yet most don't know Palestinians are refugees. Fewer still know about life in Palestinian refugee camps.
This learning party will explore how the refugee crisis happened and what everyday life is like in a permanent refugee camps as a result of an unending conflict. We will discuss the realities on the ground in several different countries, how trauma continues to fuel this conflict on all sides, and the work being done on the ground.
This event is free and open to all so invite others you know who are interested in learning and asking questions in a safe space. To RSVP via email or have questions, please contact Suzann at beirutandbeyond@gmail.com
*Capital Tea will have their full menu available for this event. Teas, dinner items, and treats! Come support a local business and learn about refugees!
