GIVING TUESDAY 2024

Our focus is on the Hopes Library in Gaza Palestinian refugee camp in Jordan this Giving Tuesday.

Gaza Palestinian refugee camp was set up in 1967 with Palestinians from Gaza fleeing the 6-Day War. Most of these refugees were originally displaced in 1948 from their villages and placed into Gaza.

Many in Gaza Palestinian refugee camp have lost relatives in the Gaza Strip during this war. This is an incredibly hard time for the residents of the camp, trying to stay in touch with loved ones and feeling helpless.

Hopes For Women has continue to serve their community during this time. The Hopes library continues to be a safe place for women, a place for community, education, and information.

Beirut and Beyond couldn’t be prouder to support Hopes For Women and their service to their community during such trying time. Our librarian, Shaima’ has grown the library over the past year. She has extended the reach to more women in the camp. She has offered innovative programs such as lectures, seminars, book clubs, and movie nights. At her invitation, authors have come to the camp and library to discuss their books at book club meetings. She even partnered with the largest Jordanian library for a reading marathon for library users this fall.

This Giving Tuesday, we plan to raise the operations budget for the Hopes For Women Library in ONE day! We need $10,000 to support programming, the librarian salary, and new books.

Will you join us in providing a safe place for Gazan refugees to access information and community?

We’ll have fundraisers on FB and Instagram. You can donate on our GIVE page, just put “Hopes” in the memo. We’ll also have a FB live on Monday, November 27th at 8am MST with the entire staff of Hopes.

Get Involved. Give Generously. Support Gazan Refugees.
