Our new series, The Story of Exile, begins on Wednesday, March 25. This five-part series examines the exile of Palestinian refugees, starting with the first mass displacements: al-Nakba and al-Naksa. Between 1946 and 1948, more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from historic Palestine in what is known as al-Nakba — the catastrophe. We will explore the Naksa — the setback marked by the second-largest displacement of Palestinians during the 1967 Six-Day War.
Subsequent sessions will cover camp structure, living conditions, and infrastructure; how temporary refugee camps became effectively permanent; the politics of the camps, including the role of Palestinian factions; the vulnerabilities associated with 78 years of statelessness; and relevant current events.
Please join us for the first session on ZOOM Wednesday, March 25th at 630pm MDT. The class is free but you must register below. Contact us with questions!
